Clifford C. Thompson
As founding partner of Thompson & Associates, Clifford C. Thompson for over 30 years has provided effective, comprehensive representation; legislative lobbying; and government relations counsel to a diverse roster of clients with business and professional interests in the state of Mississippi. Coupled with a rich background in corporate and administrative law, Thompson advises clients and provides services on a broad range of legislative, regulatory and procurement matters including agriculture, appropriations, economic development, education, energy, environmental regulation, finance, gaming, healthcare, insurance, Medicaid, oil and gas, public health, public safety, taxation, telecommunications, tourism, transportation and utilities.
Thompson is a native of Jackson, Mississippi, and a graduate of Murrah High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Mississippi State University in 1966, followed by a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1969. Upon graduation, Thompson became a Special Agent in the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was assigned to field locations including Pittsburgh, St. Louis and Washington, D.C., working on cases such as kidnapping, bank robberies and organized crime. In 1972, Thompson began practicing law as an associate in a 15-person corporate law firm, becoming partner in 1974, prior to founding Thompson & Associates in 1980.
Thompson and his wife Cheryl have four children, all of whom are associated with the firm. They are active in community and church affairs, where Thompson has served as chairman of the administrative board and building committee. Thompson also served on the school board of Jackson Preparatory School for nine years.

Jim Thompson is a registered lobbyist and has been a partner with Thompson & Associates, LLC, since joining the firm in 1994. He has extensive experience with government relations in all of the firm’s specialty disciplines and has a special interest in economic development projects as well as PAC development and implementation. Thompson is engaged in actively advocating the legislative and executive branches of government on behalf of the firm’s clientele at the Mississippi State Capitol.
A 1989 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School, Thompson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Business Administration from the University of Mississippi in 1993. Thompson’s first professional taste of politics came as a deputy campaign manager for Judge Leslie Southwick during Southwick’s 1994 candidacy for the Mississippi Court of Appeals. In 2011, Jim was on the Transition Team for Governor Phil Bryant. Thompson is a member of the National Association of State Lobbyists.
A Jackson native, Thompson is an avid supporter of Ole Miss athletics and enjoys golf, hunting and fishing. Jim and his wife Ashley live in Ridgeland.
Ted Thompson is a registered lobbyist and has been a partner with Thompson & Associates, LLC, since 2011. He is engaged in actively lobbying lawmakers at the Mississippi State Capitol on behalf of the firm’s clients on a wide range of issues, including agriculture, appropriations, economic development, education, energy, environmental regulation, finance, gaming, healthcare, insurance, Medicaid, oil and gas, public health, public safety, taxation, telecommunications, tourism, transportation and utilities.
A Jackson native, Thompson is a 1989 graduate of Jackson Preparatory School and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Banking Finance and Management Finance from the University of Mississippi in 1993. He has an extensive professional background in sales and marketing, beginning his career in commercial sales with Entergy Mississippi. Prior to joining Thompson & Associates, he embarked on a career in telecommunications with Air2Lan and, later, Time Warner Cable and Comcast, handling major commercial accounts.
Thompson and his wife Kimberly have three sons and are active members of Holy Trinity – St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church. In addition to family activities, he is an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.
Nan Thompson Katsaboulas
Nan Thompson Katsaboulas is a partner with Thompson & Associates, LLC. The youngest of Clifford and Cheryl Thompson’s four children, Katsaboulas is a lifelong resident of Jackson, Mississippi, and graduate of Jackson Preparatory School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Mississippi, graduating cum laude in 2001. Following in her father’s footsteps, Katsaboulas graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi Law School in 2004 with a degree of Juris Doctor. She was admitted in 2004, and is a member of the American and Mississippi bar associations.
Katsaboulas began her legal career in 2004 as an associate with the law firm of Butler Snow, specializing in mass tort litigation. Following Hurricane Katrina in August 2005, Katsaboulas joined Thompson & Associates as a partner, helping to advise clients such as State Farm Insurance and Harrah’s Hotels & Casinos in legislative matters and public policy. Today, Katsaboulas’ primary focus is providing the firm with in-depth legal research on all state laws and bills related to Thompson & Associates clients and developing detailed reports to keep clients informed about issues affecting their interests.
Katsaboulas and her husband Kanello, owner of Kats Wine & Spirits in the Belhaven district of Jackson, are parents to two young daughters and are active participants in their community and church.
